The direction was to create something that had a sleek, modern and minimal feel while keeping the user experience in mind with features that would allow readers to take a deeper dive into who the author is and what the book had in store. My starting point for aesthetics came from the already designed book cover. I was able to explore that style further within my research and sketches as I came up with different ways to execute the design. Below are a few sketches created for the home and interior page designs.
The outcome was an enticing homepage that included a video banner overlay and a silhouette of the book cover that breaks the plane above the fold area. There is both a vertical and horizontal scrolling experience that gives you a modern feel while keeping a good amount of white space for the clean minimal feel. The initial launch of the site included a landing page that later evolves into the robust site seen below as the launch date of the book approaches in Q4 of 2020.
